My school in Virginia also did the car crash thing, but instead of all of them dying one got to get helicoptered out to fake being airlifted to a hospital. The theatre kids would fight to get picked.

Also for the sex dream thing, in psychology it says that if you have sex dreams about people you know it's because you admire something about them. Whether they have a talent you enjoy or are very loyal or whatever. That's you're brain going, I wish I was more like this person. Let's pretend we banged them to give us the hint when we wake up!

Because this happened a lot in college and I would freak out, but then access why it was happening and realize I just really liked how dedicated they were to doing their projects on time or something. Brains are weird.

Mariel and Max you are not alone, my school did the car crash but they made it about drinking and driving on prom night. It made people want to join drama class because they picked drama students who would be the ones who died.

My town went all out for the mock accident. Destroyed car, multiple police officers and firefighters, the jaws of life, and even a life flight (though the kid chosen never actually got to board the helicopter, and instead snuck out as a firefighter. The entire high school would sit in the bleachers and watch this, with a timer running to show you how long it took to get them out.

We did Shattered Dreams (but didn't call it shattered dreams) once and they brought in their parents to cry and freak out which was the worst part.  They even cut up the car and just staged a complete rescue. We didn't do the whole casket thing though.  We also did train and canal safety since we lived on the Erie Canal and people think swimming in it is a good idea (it's not). But it was the same presentation every year.

I acted in my drama class' rendition of the drunk driving skit. I was in the 'other car' that was driving behind and saw it happen. Was friends with everyone in the car in the crash. The fire department even came out and took the car apart like they would if the car was crushed and the couldn't get in. Some school police and others were there, one stepped in between me and the drunk driver as I was yelling at her and we almost got into a fight bc I was blaming her for everything and hysterical lul.

Can confirm, my acting career didn't go anywhere.

My high school kinda did something like The Shattered Dreams thing. A Grim Reaper would walk around the entire school and go into classrooms, picking one random student from the class. So throughout the entire school day, there would be a scary looking Grim Reaper with 30 something "dead" students behind him, holding posters, explaining how they died ( gun violence, drugs, alcohol, etc).

My (public) high school (in Southern California) did the staged crash too. Like the upperclassmen created a short film every 2 years. The program is called Every 15 Minutes & they'd literally "kill" a student by announcing it over the PA system every 15 minutes from like 8 am to 12 pm. So there were like 15 dead kids, AND another dead kid who was the one who "died" in the staged crash. Apparently they stopped doing it like the year after I graduated because it was fucking people up too much. Like people would be sobbing in the halls even though they knew their friends weren't actually dead and were just chillin in the lecture hall with all the other "dead" kids. One of my best friends was "killed" and I left a note on her locker that was stupid & knew it would make her laugh. Except they never put them in caskets... Also the staged crash was just for juniors and seniors. Freshman and sophomores saw a separate presentation by a lady who lost her son in a drunk/distracted driving incident. But they'd have a totaled car in the middle of the quad and I just remember SO many people making memes of it (including me, lol).

Ahh... Shattered Dreams. I also know what Mariel and Max are talking about. One difference for my school though was that, since we were a larger school with a bit more money than most, we actually would have the CareFlight chopper come out and pick up the "dead" kid.

same, we had a person airlifted out, but they also made a video of it, so the people who were in the crash went to the hospital and they filmed their parents coming and crying about their kids who got in a crash and almost died but not really. it was pretty fucked up.

My school did the Shattered Dreams stuff too every year right before prom. It was usually about drunk driving, and they eventually sprinkled in some distracted driving in as well during my senior year of school. They would ring a bell every few minutes during the first few periods of class and students would leave, followed by a fake crash sound from outside. Everyone in the school had to file to the front of the building where they staged their mock crash. Then we had a two hour presentation about drunk/distracted driving, and they tried to get us to sign a pledge saying we wouldn't drink and drive or text and drive. Signing wasn't mandatory, but we got ice cream if we did. Really fucked up in retrospect.

We had Every 15 Minutes at my high school. They picked about 30 students at random and had a guy dressed as the grim reaper go to your class and pull you out in the middle of the day and leave a black rose on your desk. Five of the students got to be staged in a car crash with fake blood and actually put into body bags. Then we all spent the night at a church and went to their funeral the next day. They even made up stories of how each person died. My story was I got alcohol poisoning and died on my parent's door step because my friends just left me there after a party.

Yeah, I remember the shattered dreams thing they did for Azle High School. They did this thing where during each period, the grim reaper would show up to take the chosen "victims" away. It would usually coincide with a heart beat flatlining over the loudspeaker (Man that shit was loud!).

The production was grisly, of course, with the flipped cars and the very bloody students and all.  With this all happening on the football field, and the rest of us in the stands, it got pretty loud when the helicopter landed. It took around five minutes to save the "alive" ones, then they took off again. Great production of horrible outcomes.

The staged crash program for at my school was called "Every 15 Minutes" and they did the exact same thing except they would select....I believe 5-6 students and they would make gravestones to represent themselves and the gravestones would be displayed in the quad.  The whole thing represented how every 15 minutes someone dies as a result of drunk driving. The event would happen every 2 years and only was presented to the juniors/seniors. Due to budget cuts, they stopped the program right before my junior year.

Oh I remember the crash thing. I think it was called something different, but man that was an experience. I remember a ton of people crying because it was like a huge production

But more importantly, there was a helicopter and that was cool
