It has taken several years but I'm finally making it to my first RTX. Earlier this week I purchased our plane tix. So all arrangements are complete. My girlfriend and kids could not be more excited. We're all fans of different groups within the RT family and look forward to seeing everyone. I was even able to get tix to LPL. We went to the Baltimore one and had a blast. We had aisle seats and my kids got high-fives from the AH and FH members as they ran by.

I only wish I had known about the Theater Mode Live show...maybe next time.

This will also be our first trip to TX and could not think of a better reason to go. We can't wait to try some of the restaurants we've been hearing the RT family talk about. Hopefully we'll have some time to explore the city itself a little. I'm a book nerd and really want to check out the library, that place looks awesome. Maybe check out the capital and some of the parks if we can.

Well, I could keep rambling but I'll end it here. For everyone going hope to see you and have a great RTX!

Took my 2 older kids to see Lazer Team tonight and we had a blast. Awesome movie and a chance for us to hang out with some fellow Rooster Teeth fans. Thanks for a great night Rooster Teeth.

Closest screening I could find was the Baltimore area. Anyone else in the central/south central PA area interested in a screening in the Harrisburg area?

If so, I'll try to get one set-up.

Just wanted to send a quick thank you message to the Rooster Teeth team for the amazing E3 coverage. This was the first year I had an opportunity to watch the events live and having the RT and Funhaus crew be the hosts was great. You always have such great insight and really seemed to make the devs and guests feel comfortable.

Got good news Thursday afternoon. My employer came to their senses and are allowing me to continue working from home. I will have to go into the office a couple of times a month but it won't be everyday. I can work with this and I don't have to look for a new job right now.

So it's been 2 weeks since my boss told me about my changing job position. We had a conference call to get more details and if I stay with the company I will have to return to being in the office. No getting around it.

I asked my boss if there would be any severance package if I decide I cannot do this. HR returned with some questions about my previous work from the office and how I became a remote employee.I am still waiting for their decision but I know what mine is. There is no possible way I can go back to making the commute daily so I will be looking for a new job. I just hope after 18 years with them they decide to at least offer me something in the way of severance as they are the ones forcing the situation upon me.

Time for change and new adventures I guess. smiley1.gif

Friday I got a call from my boss right after I logged into work which is forcing me to make a tough decision. I currently work from home. The nearest office for my company is approximately a 90 minute drive away (on a light traffic day). I used to do this commute daily (for about 13 years) but then things happened and I've been working from home full-time for about 5 years. My boss's call was to tell me I was going to start having to go into the office again. I would also be moving under a new boss, someone I worked for in the past.

I don't work from home simply because I had the opportunity but also because I have to be here for my kids. Since their Mom passed they do not like when I am away from home for more than a few hours and this would force me to go back to being away 12 hours a day.I do not want to go back to doing that again. At one point my middle child thought I lived at work and only visited the house because I had to leave before he woke up and was home just in time to put him to bed. Aside from the kids there are also going to be additional costs with making that commute again. Gas, wear on my vehicle, time lost while driving, etc.

The other factor is the person I would be working for. I worked for him in the past and it was strained to say the least. It was while working for him I stopped getting paid for the extra time I worked when on-call (it has since been re-instated). I just don't feel like I can trust him either. He always seems like he's working some kind of angle.

So the decision I have to make is do I start making the commute again and see how things play out or see if they will offer a separation package and take my chances on the job market. I have been with this company 18 years (in all its various forms and names). It is where I started right out of tech school. Maybe it's time for a change.

So I post my last journal entry achievementhunter.com/members/journal/entry.php?id=...
and the cosmos decides to slap me upside the head. I talk about it warming up and getting outside. It has not stopped raining since.

It's starting to warm up and the sun is out more. That means I will be AFK more during the day. Outside of work I will be trying to limit my time in front of a screen to when it dark or raining. There will be much more bike riding, fishing and general outdoor play happening.

At least that is the plan.
